For the past 15 winters, a mysterious decorated pine tree along Montana’s Interstate 90 has captivated passing motorists, with local residents speculating about its origins.
The tradition began in 2009 when long-haul trucker German Segura playfully promised his worried wife he would “dress” a lonely tree he spotted during an icy drive.
Segura returned each year to decorate the tree, and the private act has grown into a community tradition, with residents now joining him to mark the start of the holiday season.
