Since my radio show is expanding quickly and we have a bunch of new faces around here, let me do a quick reset for those who don’t know. My wife has an incurable form of stage four lung cancer. The cancer is completely genetic and requires a bleeding edge medication to keep the tumors at bay. She was given two years to live and, by God’s grace, that was eight years ago.
If she received the same diagnosis a decade before, she would likely be dead because the medical technology simply was not available. And yet, you would be stunned at the number of well-meaning people who email me and my team that the right concoction of essential oils or the perfectly calibrated diet would eventually cure the cancer from her body.
The dozens (and dozens) of people who send me this stuff are predominantly conservative Christians who share a similar worldview to mine. But they have been captured by the whispering voices in a sympathetic algorithm who are telling them what they want to hear.
Despite copious amounts of research and data available to support the safety and effectiveness of vaccines, a growing number of these same Christians are choosing not to vaccinate their kids because their favorite influencer claims to have the real truth. We live in dangerous times when a growing number of Christians are letting their ears be tickled by an algorithm that is regurgitating information not based on truth.
