MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL Opens 145th Season

Major League Baseball opens its 145th season today. Over the decades, Opening Day has become a tradition embraced by fans, players, and cities. Here’s today’s lineup of games.

Opening Day has plenty of fanfare not seen on most gamedays: Introductions of every player, coach and staff member, the Budweiser Clydesdales trotting around the field in St. Louis, and Cincinnati fans celebrating with the Findlay Parade, a 94-year-old tradition.

It’s also a rare opportunity to see every club’s star pitcher take the mound. Your favorite hurler might not throw a no-hitter like Bob Feller in 1940, but even if he was yanked after the first inning (like Yoshinobu Yamamoto last week), he’s got all season to turn it around.
