“Mr. Irrelevant” Signs Huge Contract With 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers agreed to terms with quarterback Brock Purdy on a five-year, $265 million contract on Friday, including $181 million guaranteed.

The former Iowa State quarterback becomes the seventh-highest-paid player in the NFL in terms of annual average value.

In his first three seasons, he won 23 of his 36 regular-season starts and threw for 64 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.

Selected with the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy earned the “Mr. Irrelevant” nickname, bestowed each year on the final pick of the seventh round.
