National Insecurity: Biden’s Blunders Killing Military Morale, Recruitment

(Chuck Muth) – Robert Gates, former defense secretary in the Obama administration, once said that Joe Biden had “been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.”

Sadly, nothing’s changed.  And Americans of military age know it.

“The U.S. military has reached crisis levels of low recruitment, at the same time the American public’s perception of the armed forces is increasingly divided,” reported PBS in August 2023. “In a recent Gallup poll, only 60 percent of respondents said they had confidence in the U.S. military, the lowest level in over two decades.”

In a November 2023 report, USA Facts confirmed that new enlistments were down, with the Army recruiting just 77% of its target number, the Navy recruiting just 80%, and the Air Force at 89%. Only the Marines and Space Force hit their targeted enlistment numbers.

In July 2022, Military.com reported that “the number of military personnel and veterans who would recommend joining the armed forces has dropped in the past two years – a waning enthusiasm that could threaten national security.”

The report noted that the Military Family Support Programming Survey in 2021 “found that, while 63% of those surveyed would recommend military life to someone considering, that number was down from 75% in 2019.”

What factors have caused so many veterans and young Americans to sour to quickly and so badly on military service?

“I think probably the biggest one right now,” Matthew Gault, a writer for VICE, told PBS in an interview, “this immediate drop, is the end of the war in Afghanistan, the American withdrawal from it, and how quickly the Taliban was able to retake it.

“There was a lot of really bad optics,” he continued.  “There’s a lot of terrible footage, a lot of horrifying stories that happened in the immediate wake of that.”

In addition, in a March 2024 report, the Daily Signal noted that “Since Biden took office in January 2021, his State Department has partially or fully evacuated 11 U.S. embassies via what are known as authorized or ordered departure directives.”  They include…

  • 2021: Burma. Chad. Afghanistan, Ethiopia
  • 2022: Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Nigeria
  • 2023: Sudan, Niger
  • 2024: Haiti

This must end.

In writing the Constitution, our Founding Fathers saw national security as a crucial responsibility of the federal government, which is reflected in several provisions.

Overall, the Founding Fathers envisioned a strong role for the federal government in ensuring national security, with a balance of power between the legislative and executive branches to prevent abuse and maintain accountability.

Perhaps no other responsibility for government is as important as keeping the United States safe from foreign enemies.  Every decision in this arena – especially mistakes in judgment – by the President and Congress can cost American lives.

Remember in November.

Laughter is Still the Best Medicine

The economy Under Joe Biden is so bad that…

  • I got a pre-declined credit card offer in the mail today.
  • CEO’s are now playing miniature golf.
  • Exxon-Mobile laid off 50 Congressmen.
  • Angelina Jolie adopted a child from America.
  • Snitches no longer get stitches
  • A picked-up penny no longer brings good luck!
  • My economy car went on strike
  • Motel 6 won’t leave the light on anymore.
  • Baker’s dozen, now only 8
  • A bird in the hand is now only worth half a bird in a bush.
  • A picture is now only worth 200 words.
  • The light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.
  • They renamed Wall Street “Wal-Mart Street”
  • The Treasure Island casino in Las Vegas is now managed by Somali pirates.
  • I called a car dealer to get the book value on my used car. They asked if the gas tank was full or empty.  (H/T: Reddit)

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“It used to be PUNK to vote Democrat.  I fell for it.  But when your party demands you live in fear, squaller, beyond your means by just buying groceries, gasoline, disrespecting our veterans, our police, our elderly, supporting CRIMINALS, chaos, riots, Hamas, FAILING Israel, demeaning us at every turn! HURTING our CHILDREN! Wasting OUR MONEY. Ineptitude with every policy! Lies and more lies. NO MORE! The Democrat Party can KISS MY A$$.  They don’t give a damn.  Voting Dem used to be cool.  But now, it just makes you a FOOL.” – Cherrie Currie, former lead singer for The Runaways
