By now, you all know the name Laken Riley. Laken was murdered by an illegal immigrant on Thursday morning while on a run in Athens, Georgia. If you read mainstream media coverage of the story, you would think that this was a random act of violence that was completely unpreventable. This couldn’t be further from the truth.
Democrats’ failed immigration policies ranging from the President of the United States down to the local district attorney empowered Jose Ibarra to kill Laken Riley. Jose Ibarra illegally crossed into the United States in September of 2022 and was held in a detention facility until his release due to overcrowding.
From there, Ibarra traveled to New York City where he was arrested for endangering a five-year-old child but was immediately released back onto the streets. Ibarra could have been prosecuted and deported but local district attorneys there have a long history of refusing to prosecute illegal immigrants because they do not want to see them deported. The same prosecutors are going after former US Marine Daniel Penny for protecting a subway full of women and children from a deranged man to the fullest extent of the law.
Ibarra finally settled in Athens, Georgia, a town whose progressive leadership deemed it a “sanctuary county” in 2019. According to a member of the state legislator, Ibarra continued his criminal spree by shoplifting and had an outstanding bench warrant for failing to appear in court.
The abject refusal of media entities to objectively cover this story has been a jarring reminder of the biases in the mainstream media. The Associated Press covered the story as a “women’s running issue” while the AJC has pushed their version of “Republicans pounce”.
If our government was run by anyone with a modicum of competency, Jose Ibarra would be jailed or deported and Laken Riley would be well on her way to becoming a nurse. But failed progressive policies allowed 7.2 million people into this and stole a life in the process. Conservatives always said this was going to happen and sadly, this is all but certain to happen again.
