Former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic presidential nomination on Friday. Their endorsement makes Ms. Harris all but the presumptive nominee.
“At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us,” former President Obama wrote in a message posted on X early Friday morning.
The Democratic Party’s rules committee earlier in the week had committed to hold a virtual vote to select the party’s nominee to face former President Donald Trump in the general election in November. Prior to the rules decision, Ms. Harris had already secured the endorsements of the majority of the delegates needed to win the nomination vote on the first ballot.
