The Pentagon is deploying 1,500 additional active-duty troops to the southern border following President Donald Trump’s executive order, supplementing the 2,500 troops already there.

The new forces will provide logistical support, data entry, monitoring, and maintenance assistance but cannot perform law enforcement duties under current law unless Trump invokes the Insurrection Act within 90 days.

Meanwhile, ICE arrested 308 illegal immigrants across the U.S. in the first 24 hours of the Trump administration, according to Border Czar Tom Homan, who said the arrests targeted serious criminals.
