Located on Highway 80 South, .4 miles west of Galloway Rd. in Sunnyvale, TX, this sign faces west and is seen by tens of thousands of drivers heading east each day.
REAL ID is being sold as a solution for security, voter integrity and immigration. History has shown what happens when we hand over freedom for promises of “safety.”
We need look no further than how the Patriot Act has been used against Americans.
REAL ID may start as a way to verify identity — but it creates a federal framework that could be weaponized to:
- Track your movement
- Control your access to services
- Restrict purchases like firearms or travel
We’re calling on Americans across the country to say no.
REAL ID is not about safety. It’s about control. This national ID system enables tracking, restricts access, and sets the stage for centralized surveillance.
“By embracing REAL ID, we can indeed cash a check, hire a baby sitter, board a plane, or engage in countless other activities with confidence” – Michael Chertoff, Secretary of Homeland Security (2005-2009) in a 2008 Op-ed promoting REAL ID’s use for daily life.
“Domestic travel restrictions are the hallmark of authoritarian States, not free republics. The national ID will be used to track the movements of American citizens.” – Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) in Jan. 2005 on the House Floor.
