Seven Tennessee Teams Make March Madness

Tennessee will send seven teams to the NCAA basketball tournament this week: the Volunteers, Memphis Tigers, Lipscomb Bisons and Vanderbilt Commodores for the men, and the Lady Vols, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee Tech for the women.

On the men’s side, first-round games begin on Thursday. No. 5 Memphis will face No. 12 Colorado State in the West region, No. 10 Vanderbilt will battle No. 7 St. Mary’s in the East region, and No. 2 seed Tennessee is set to take on No. 15 Wofford in the Midwest region. No. 14 Lipscomb will play No. 3 Iowa State. See a complete men’s bracket here.

The women’s first-round games also start Thursday, where No. 7 Vanderbilt takes on No. 10 Oregon, No. 5 Tennessee will face No. 12 South Florida, and the 15th seed Tennessee Tech challenges No. 1 seed South Carolina. See a complete women’s bracket here.

Tennessee and Vanderbilt men’s teams are part of NCAA tournament history as 14 SEC men’s teams are competing this year, breaking the previous record of 11 set by the Big East in 2011.
