Should we remove suppressors from the scope of the National Firearms Act – TAKE ACTION NOW!

You have a chance to force a change in the National Firearms Act.  Here is how.   You can be a significant factor to urge Tennessee’s Congressional members to honor their oaths to protect our God given Second Amendment rights.  That includes repealing the NFA and, at a minimum, removing certain items from the NFA now.

There are two important acts that are pending and that are critical.  The Hearing Protection Act and the Stop Harassing Owners of Rifles Today (SHORT) Act are both stalled in the House Ways and Means Committee.  We need your help to move these bills.

  • R. 404—The Hearing Protection Act, introduced by Rep. Ben Cline, would remove suppressors from the National Firearms Act of 1934 (“NFA”), stripping away all regulation and eliminating the $200 tax stamp.
  • R. 2395—The SHORT Act, introduced by Rep. Andrew Clyde, would prevent any future attempt to reintroduce the Biden administration’s unconstitutional pistol brace ban. The NFA was the actual law that the Biden Administration used to justify the pistol brace ban.

You helped deliver a mandate to President Trump last November and now we need the House Ways and Means Committee to help President Trump deliver on his campaign promise to restore our rights under the Second Amendment.  This is at least a step in that direction.

Now the focus is on the House Ways and Means Committee.  More importantly, Tennessee’s Congressman David Kustoff is on that committee.   His vote could be the swing vote that either allows these two bills to be added to the Trump budget or it could block them.  We need your help to let Congressman Kustoff understand that it is critical that these two bills be included and move forward.

Time is critical.  Make the call today and, if you are a constituent, ask that he call you back to report on how he will be or did vote on these important issues:

  • Washington Office – (202) 225-4714
  • Jackson Office – (731) 423-4848
  • Martin Office – (731) 412-1043
  • Memphis Office – (901) 682-4422

Tell him to pass H.R. 404 and H.R. 2395 immediately out of committee to deregulate suppressors and ensure that a future anti-gun administration does not target pistol-braced firearms again using the archaic and unconstitutional NFA.

This isn’t just about an unconstitutional $200 tax that we want lowered, it’s about repealing all the unconstitutional gun control like registration, wait periods, fingerprints, and more that comes along with that tax.

Every day the House Ways and Means Committee does not move these bills; gun owners face archaic restrictions and possible prosecution for exercising their constitutional right to Keep and Bear Arms.   Request that Congressman Kustoff support these bills and that he demand – on the public record – that they move forward to the House floor.

It does not matter if he is your Congressman, when he serves on a Committee he represents all of Tennessee.

When we flood his office, and those of other Congressional members, with calls, they will act. Congress pays attention when you take time out of your busy day to call them. A phone call to your Member of Congress is the equivalent of 100 people sending them a letter! Even if it’s after hours, leave a message.

Please take 5 minutes out of your busy day to impress on Congressman Kustoff that you are demanding his vigorous support of these bills.

Let him know that you and your peers within the Tennessee Firearms Association are closely monitoring any, or lack of, action by him and this Committee to move these bills. If you are not in Congressman Kustoff’s district, call him as a Tennessean.  But, you should also call your individual Congressional member as well.  Tell them about these bills and that you are expecting them to not only support the bills but that you are expecting them to communicate the urgency to Congressman Kustoff as well.  If you do not know how to contact your Congressman, look them up here
