(WKRN) — An approaching cold front will interact with moisture & daytime heating to trigger a line of strong storms to move into our region on Monday. Some of these storms could turn severe.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for northwest areas, and a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) for most of Middle Tennessee & Southern Kentucky.
A cold front will set off a line of thunderstorms Monday midday through the late afternoon. Although the tornado threat is extremely low, damaging winds, frequent lightning and hail are possible with some of the storms.
The line of thunderstorms will increase in the northwest areas between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Monday. Into the afternoon, storms cross into Tennessee and will likely intensify as they interact with ample moisture and instability. Storms will continue to move east and exit our region shortly before sunset.
After the storms exit, we will see a nice stretch of quiet weather on Tuesday and Wednesday!
