Tennessee County Pushes Bonds for Storm Repairs

The Carter County, Tennessee Commission’s budget committee recommended issuing $40 million in bonds to cover repair costs for local infrastructure destroyed by Hurricane Helene.

County officials say they anticipate reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after submitting paid bills.

The state is set to cover the first three years of interest payments on hurricane relief bonds if reimbursement doesn’t happen immediately.
