Legendary singer Brenda Lee received special recognition Monday for her iconic holiday hit Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.
The song, which Lee recorded in Nashville at the age of 13, has officially been declared Tennessee’s official holiday song.
Rep. Jason Powell, who authored the legislation, joined Gov. Bill Lee in honoring the 79-year-old artist during a ceremony at the state’s Capitol.
In December 2023, Lee’s song reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, making Lee the oldest artist to reach the top spot.
