It is tough to compete against the Atlanta Braves on radio in Atlanta. But up against the Braves, I was the number one radio show in Atlanta, music or talk. There are a lot of stations and programming to listen to, but people 25-54 listened mostly to me during the summer book and my show has continued to deliver strong numbers. Thank you.
I’ve heard similarly from other markets from Florida to Ohio and beyond that my ratings have been great, and I owe all that to you guys.
I am incredibly thankful.
Over the past few months, we have had an influx of new readers here. Let me just say something I have not said in a while.
To my knowledge, no one else on the radio weaves in faith and politics like I do. The two topics you aren’t supposed to talk about are the two I regularly discuss on the radio. Program directors across America often tell me I should stop mentioning theology, but every time I do an event, the crowd tells me they appreciate that I’m willing to talk about it.
Those of you who are paid subscribers to this newsletter, help me do that. I don’t get a paycheck from the subscriber fees here, but I am able to pay my satellite costs, my staff, and other costs related to doing a national radio show. I can share my faith and opinions because you guys are willing to subscribe.
Thank you.
Some of you who comment often get mad because you think I’m too deferential to Donald Trump. Others of you who comment get mad because you think I’m not deferential enough.
Earlier this year, I lost one of my radio affiliates because the person in charge did not like that I criticized Trump. I’ve been denied a number of opportunities because I will criticize Trump. I dare say I’ve lost more by criticizing him than praising him. It’s easy for a keyboard warrior to attack me one way or the other, but as a man whose family has been attacked from both sides, I keep returning to each of your generosity of spirit and encouragement to me to just speak and write what I think.
All of this is to say that I am very thankful for all of you and I am thankful for the great and loyal team around me.
I continue to pray for the growth of my radio show and the addition of more affiliates. Many of you know how often I pray for those of you in need.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you and hope you have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. I’m going to take some time off over the next few days to cook, rest, and enjoy some quiet. Then, I have three weeks of non-stop travel before Christmas.
Oh, on a last note, and of great interest to a very limited but intensely interested number of you, we went with a Kawai Piano for my son. Thanks for the recommendations. I’d never heard of that piano, but it sounds incredible and should arrive next week.
God bless,
Erick
