That Ship Has Sailed

A vocal number of Republican activists are upset that Republican committeewoman and conservative activist Harmeet Dhillon said a Sikh prayer at the Republican National Convention.

Harmeet is an active and committed Republican. The Republican Party is not a Christian organization, but a multi-ethnic pluralistic political party that looks like America. Harmeet has as much of a right to say a prayer to her god on stage as others do to their gods. I believe Jesus is Lord and the only path to salvation. I reject the idea that we all get to God through various paths. There is only one path and His name is Jesus Christ. But I also love my neighbors who believe otherwise. Her prayer to her god does not offend me. She has spent plenty of time at plenty of Republican events listening to prayers in Jesus’s name. Just as she did not have to pray to my God, I was not compelled to pray to hers. Any Christian could have looked at their phone or left the room or prayed to God in Jesus’s name while she spoke. A Sikh prayer has been offered at previous Republican conventions without controversy.

The Republican Convention is not reflective of my faith and, frankly, I find it more than a little ironic that there is more vocal outcry from Republicans who attended that convention to Harmeet praying than having a porn star on stage who, in February, praised the Church of Satan for helping with access to abortion. Yes, that happened Monday night too.

What’s more notable is that many of the Republicans who attended know Harmeet from her activities within the GOP. But very few of them know who Amber Rose is and I do not suggest you google her.

Rose was there to tell Republicans that she felt like she had been lied to by the left about Trump and had converted to Trumpism. There were plenty of people other than a porn star who could have made that point. But she’s anti-woke, hates DEI, loves Donald Trump, and her OnlyFans account is on sale now just in time for the exposure.

The Teamsters Union President also spoke on stage. He attacked right-to-work laws, businesses, and long held Republican policies. He got a very lukewarm reception from the crowd. 100 days before the election, the Republican National Committee thought it was a good idea to let the union boss on stage to attack portions of their long held beliefs, key constituencies, and not endorse Donald Trump because maybe, just maybe, some people will consider it an endorsement and vote for Donald Trump.

The party also ditched its long held platform language on pro-life causes and traditional marriage.

If you’re unhappy with a porn star on stage who praised Satanists only a few months ago or you are unhappy with the party ditching its pro-life platform or unhappy with the flirtation with unions that fund the Democrat campaign machine, well, you’re in a Republican Party that decided character no longer counts and did so some time ago.

Things are changing. Times are changing. And I suspect a great many Republicans will be fine with all of it in the name of winning. The ring of power calls.

For those of you not so sure about all of this, two days ago, Joe Biden embraced rent control. Last night, he embraced killing the filibuster to pack the Supreme Court with progressives. He’s decided he will align with progressives to save his nomination, damn the consequences. And those of you unhappy with the direction of the Republican Party will have to decide if you can take the chance on him winning a second term or voting for the Republicans.

It is ironic that Joe Biden is wooing conservatives harder for Trump than Trump is wooing them for himself.

I Took One For The Team

I have hate watched Acolyte, the Star Wars show on Disney+, so you did not have to. Having now finished, here is the plot summary: The Sith (Darth Vader, the Emperor, etc) are the LGBTQ+ community and the Jedi (Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Mary Poppins Princess Leia) are the Christians. The Christians are trying to keep kids from embracing their inner queerness. But once a kid does embrace her inner queerness and rejects the Jedi, her lightsaber turns from blue to pink and the LGBTQ+ community makes you feel welcome. The end.

Kathleen Kennedy should be charged with war crimes for what she’s done to my childhood memories.

I guess this also explains why Darth Vader was so goth and the Emperor was so interested in Anakin.
