When Palestinian and pro-Hamas protestors organized marches around the country, media outlets devoted copious amounts of coverage to the events. The Washington Post went so far as to dedicate the front page of the next day’s paper to flattering, uncritical coverage of the marches while ignoring the 240 Israeli hostages. Yesterday, when nearly 300,000 people showed up at a pro-Israeli march at the National Mall led by prominent Republicans and Democrats, the Washington Post buried the story in the back half of the paper.
The Washington Post is the same outlet that caved to a band of employees who were offended by a satirical cartoon published in the paper that accurately depicted the actions of Hamas. Instead of standing up to terrorist-sympathizing employees, The Post apologized and removed the cartoon. This is the same newspaper that faithfully publishes Palestinian death totals from Hamas as an indisputable fact.
Media outlets including the Washington Post have completely ignored a story out of Michigan regarding a flight chartered by Jewish Americans planning to attend the march in Washington. When they arrived in DC, the Arab drivers refused to pick them up out of opposition to their support of Israel. Just imagine the headlines if someone did this to people attending Black Lives Matter protests.
But what’s more intriguing than the media coverage is the clear distinctions between the events themselves. The pro-Israel march was attended by Republicans and Democrats hoisting Israeli and American flags without violence and without anyone wearing masks. The pro-Palestinian marches were only attended by the most radical of Democrats burning American flags and chanting “death to the Jews.”
While credit should be given to the likes of Van Jones, John Fetterman, and Hillary Clinton for unabashedly supporting Israel, Democrats have a civil war simmering right under the surface that seemingly grows more contentious by the day. As Rashida Tlaib was exposed for being a part of a secret Facebook group that glorified the attacks on October 7th, the Democratic leadership’s “ignorance is bliss” approach is seemingly less and less convincing to the American people.
