Supporters of School Choice had a big night in Texas last night. Sadly, in Georgia, it is qualifying season and the leadership there hasn’t advanced their school choice bill to a vote yet. It is a time for a vote.
Nationally, Nikki Haley is out. I have not spent much time writing about it because it was inevitable. She is a friend I like very much, but this was not a year for a candidate from the traditional sphere of the GOP. The base wants Trump.
They shall have him.
Democrats should be concerned in all of this that none of their silver bullets are stopping Trump. For years, Republicans tried Whitewater to stop Clinton. Then, they tried a host of rumors and allegations to stop Obama. Democrats did the same with George Bush and the National Guard letter. Now, with Trump, they’ve got multiple indictments and attempts to bleed him dry.
Neither party likes beating the other side at the polls. Republicans, with Biden, are going with the Hunter Biden stuff that too few people care about.
Both sides need to be prepared for a ballot box fight. Voters increasingly view Donald Trump’s actions and tenure in a better light than Biden. Biden cannot get off the stage. He is President. There can be no basement campaign for him. Trump is running the Biden 2020 strategy against Biden, and it is working.
Democrats are stuck with Biden. He will not withdraw. Independent voters hate him and, consequently, like Trump more. The GOP can still screw it up, particularly with their hostility to early voting and Trump going off script so much. But voter hatred of Biden may override everything.
Biden v. Trump 2.0 is here. May God have mercy on all of us.
Now, I’m off to tour DC with my son.
