I do not know Sheldon Jackson. But this piece is so biased, no reasonable person could possibly not see it, could not see that this piece is propaganda. This article suggests that Sheldon Jackson is causing problems for the five, on the Spokane City Council, who voted to affirm sanctuary city status

This piece, and similar pieces, is why the Spokesman-Review, ‘mainstream’ media, in general, is losing viewership. This article is not an act of journalism; it is an act of propaganda.
I don’t know Jackson, but the obvious “progressive” (ie, Marxist) bent of this article makes it clear that the Spokesman Review supports Marxism to it’s own destruction. How unutterable stupid can you possibly be? Marxism has resulted in the murder of millions, world wide. It is self-destructive; totally counter to the U.S. Constitution; totally counter to freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
