This is Trump Derangement Syndrome

Erick-Woods Erickson

When Barack Obama was elected in 2008, Republicans chose to fight on everything. In the short term, it won them points and voters handed them a landslide victory in 2010. But over the long term, the perpetual outrage machine frustrated the electorate and Obama won reelection in 2012.

The same thing is happening on the left. The daily exhibits of Trump Derangement Syndrome reminds voters that Democrats are untethered from reality and the lived experience of Middle Americans. When a plane went down in Canada, NBC lept to speculate about FAA cuts. When the bird flu killed 100,000 chickens, Democrats immediately blamed Trump for higher egg prices. Democrats and the media are blaming everything on Trump and voters are tuning them out.
