Tornadoes Swept Through Tennessee, Kill Two

At least five tornadoes struck Middle Tennessee on Thursday night, killing two people and leaving a trail of destruction as severe storms swept through the region.

An EF-2 tornado with maximum winds of 135 mph hit Deer Lodge in Morgan County, claiming the lives of a mother and daughter in the same household and injuring three others.

Another EF-1 tornado, with winds reaching 115 mph, touched down near Thorn Hill in Grainger County, causing damage but no reported fatalities.

The National Weather Service also confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down east of Highway 56 in Jackson County, and another EF-1 tornado tracked northwest of Algood to east-northeast of Rickman in Overton County. See the list of tornadoes here.
