President-elect Donald Trump has begun appointing key positions in his second administration, focusing on aides and allies who were his most dedicated supporters during the 2024 campaign.
On Monday, Trump announced plans to appoint former New York Rep. Lee Zeldin to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), longtime adviser Stephen Miller as deputy chief of policy, Rep. Mike Waltz of Florida as his national security adviser, and Rep. Elise Stefanik as U.N. Ambassador.
Trump’s transition team earlier tapped former ICE director Tom Homan for the position of border czar and senior adviser Susie Wiles as chief of staff, making her the first woman to hold the position. Media sources also reported Monday that Trump was expected to name Sen. Marco Rubio to be Secretary of State, while cautioning that Trump could still change his mind.
