President Donald Trump declared a national energy emergency on Monday, signing an executive order pulling the U.S. out of the Paris climate agreement and erasing several Biden-era fossil fuel restrictions
Trump revoked Biden’s order setting targets for electric vehicle sales and froze money earmarked for EV charging stations.
The action also directed federal agency heads to identify emergency authorities to expedite energy production and processing. According to Trump, the goal is to make the U.S. a “manufacturing nation once again.”
In addition, Trump signed orders reversing bans on coast water drilling and electric vehicle adoption and lifting the freeze on LNG export permits. Read the full text of the order here.
