Following an executive order by President Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered a halt to almost all U.S. foreign assistance on Friday. The move pauses new obligations and disbursements pending reviews “for programmatic efficiency and consistency” with U.S. foreign policy, within 90 days of the order.
Meanwhile, ICE agents launched an early morning sweep for illegal immigrants in Los Angeles yesterday. According to the New York Post, California’s detention centers are expected to fill up so quickly that federal agents are searching for additional space.
In an interview with ABC News, border czar Tom Homan said the administration is planning to use military aircraft every day to carry out deportations, noting that ICE officers are free to arrest any of the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants, not just convicted criminals or other public safety threats.
