A teenage student opened fire at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday, killing a teacher and a student and injuring six others, two critically, according to officials.
Police identified the shooter as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, who went by the name Samantha. She was found dead at the scene, an apparent suicide. No motive has been reported.
The shooting occurred around 11 a.m. when Rupnow opened fire with a handgun at the private Christian school, which serves 400 students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Police said a second-grader called 911.
Unconfirmed reports on social media said Rupnow had left a “manifesto” but police said they couldn’t yet confirm its authenticity.
