U.S., Iraq Kill ISIS Leader

U.S. Central Command and the Iraqi prime minister announced on Friday that they killed the head of the Islamic State for Iraq and Syria in a targeted operation.

CENTCOM reported in a social media post that Abu Khadija was killed in a “precision airstrike” Thursday in Iraq’s Al Anbar Province. A second ISIS operative was also killed in the strike.

Abu Khadija served as ISIS second-in-command and chief of global operations. He was identified through a DNA match from evidence collected on a previous raid where the terrorist narrowly escaped, officials said.
