The third suspect involved in the Wallace Road shooting has been arrested and appeared in court Thursday morning.

Tarcus Wilkes was the final suspect arrested in connection to the shooting that occurred on Wallace Road where five people were injured and a 2-year-old child was killed.

Wilkes has the same charges as the other suspects, including felony murder and 6 attempts of first-degree murder.

United States Marshal, Tyreese Miller, told us a little bit how this arrest was made.

“Boots hitting the streets and knocking on doors, and just looking for this guy. You know, the U.S. Marshals Service is the number one fugitive hunting agency in the nation,” said Miller.

The U.S. Marshals Service comes in and helps local agencies in situations like this. It is a collaboration between them in order to catch these suspects.

“When this arrest happened, Chief Corley and I talked to each other. We were very much thankful that this has happened,” said Miller.

A lot of times you will see reward money offered for information that leads to an arrest. People can call in anonymously and give their information. Miller says this can be an effective strategy.

“We welcome that opportunity. We have a fund set aside specifically to pay people for information and there’s nothing wrong with that. We take advantage of that opportunity. Sometimes that’s what it takes. We’ll take that all day long. That’s a win,” said Miller.

Miller said that, at the end of the day, their goal is to get the suspects in front of a judge.

The state is requesting Wilkes be held without bond. Stay with us on air and online for updates as we continue to follow this court case.
