What’s Missing In The Israeli Hostage Deal

What’s lost in the conversation about the war in Gaza is that Israel was at peace on the morning of October 7th, 2023, happily living under the previous ceasefire agreement. Hamas invaded southern Israel at the Nova Music Festival and the neighboring kibbutzes raping and murdering more than 1,200 Israelis and taking hundreds more back as hostages.

Nearly a year and a half later, only 33 of those hostages remain. News is breaking that a ceasefire agreement has been reached that will presumably lead to the release of these hostages. But in the coverage of this hostage exchange, not a single reporter will ask what happened to the hundreds of other hostages murdered in unspeakable conditions under Hamas control. Instead, they will continue to equate Israel with Hamas and Netanyahu with Sinwar.
