Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signaled Sunday that he would step down from the presidency if his departure would mean Ukraine membership in NATO or a peace deal with Russia.
His statement came during a weekend in which Russia launched a record 267 drones into Ukraine, destroying infrastructure and killing at least 3 people, one day before the world marks the third year of Moscow’s invasion.
U.S. officials, meanwhile, said they expected Ukraine to sign a deal this week giving the U.S. access to Ukraine’s major mineral deposits. Zelensky had earlier said that the deal wasn’t good enough.
