Gallup’s annual “World Happiness Report” once again names Finland the happiest nation, but the United States dropped out of the top 20 happiest countries for the first time. Survey results are here.
The reason for the U.S. decline is that people under the age of 30 feel worse about their lives, Gallup says. The U.S. actually ranks in the top 10 happiest countries for people older than 60.
Overall, the survey also shows that “happiness inequality” is increasing between young and old people, with the younger generation declining sharply in life satisfaction.
