The reason for the anti-semitism today is because Satan is trying to stop Israel from fulfilling God’s plan. The only way to delay his ultimate demise is if he can stop Israel.
THE PROMISE
A BRIEF HISTORY
When God created Adam and Eve and they sinned, God cursed them and the serpent saying in Genesis 3:15:
“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”
FYI: Women’s bodies produce eggs, not seeds. And notice that “her Seed” is capitalized which infers Divinity. The Bible says there will be a God/man who will crush the serpent who is called Satan and the devil. (Revelation 12:9; 20:2)
In Genesis 4, the devil wasted no time in trying to stop this Seed by influencing Adam and Eve’s firstborn son, Cain to kill his brother, Abel. Why? Cain was angry that God didn’t accept his offering but accepted Abel’s. In this we see 2 religions — man’s way vs God’s way.
In Genesis 6, the rebellion against God was so bad that He judged the world with a flood preserving this Seed by saving one family — Noah’s. The year was 1656 from Creation.
In Genesis 11, 340 years after the flood, the people rebelled against God again by building a tower to the heavens known as the Tower of Babel. God stopped their communication by creating multiple languages. The year was 1996 from Creation.
Depending on the growth rate of 2.5 – 3.5 percent during those 340 years after the flood, the population of the world could have been between 32,000 and 920,000 at the time of the Tower of Babel. Since the people now had different languages they moved away to other areas of the world.
In the year 1948 from Creation, Abraham was born.
FYI: In 1948 AD, Abraham’s descendants founded the nation of Israel again. Coincidence?
GOD CHOOSES ABRAHAM
In Genesis 12:1-3, God sovereignly chooses Abram, later changing his name to Abraham, which means the “father of many nations.” Abraham became the family through which the Seed would come.
GOD’S PROMISES TO ABRAHAM:
Genesis 12:2
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
When God says, “I will,” that is an eternal promise. God blessed Abraham with wealth and long life. He also made Abraham’s name great. Out of 8 billion people on earth today, there are 3 major religions that claim Abraham as their spiritual father — Judaism (15.7 million), Christianity (2.38 billion) and Islam (1.9 billion). And during Abraham’s life, he was a blessing to many people.
GOD’S PROTECTION
When God chose Abraham, He knew that Satan would attack Abraham’s descendants. So God adds the promise of protection in verse 3.
Genesis 12:3
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
God promised to bless the people who bless Abraham, Isaac and Jacob’s descendants (the Jews). He also promised to protect the Jews by cursing those who curse the Jews.
Hitler cursed and killed the Jews and Hitler’s empire was destroyed. In the book of Esther, a man named Haman sought to kill the Jews during the Persian empire but he was hanged on his own gallows.
Today, Hamas is paying a heavy price for attacking Israel. The Bible says these wars will increase as we get closer to the end.
Finally, God promised “in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
How? Israelis have blessed the world with their many discoveries but the most important blessing is through the Seed which was passed from Abraham to his son, Isaac and then to Jacob. Then Jacob had 12 sons but the blessing of the Seed went to Judah, then to a descendant named, Jesse, then to his son, King David. And finally God chose a virgin, who was a descendant of David to give birth to Yeshua (Jesus) who was God and man fulfilling the promise of the Seed first made in Genesis 3:15.
Jesus’ birth, life, death and resurrection fulfilled 300 prophecies in the Old Testament about a future Savior who would die for the sins of the world. But the Jewish leaders didn’t believe. So 40 years after Jesus’ ascension back to heaven, Israel was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD killing 1 million Jews and scattering the survivors.
Moses prophesied that Israel’s disobedience would result in judgment. Deuteronomy 28:63-64 says, “You (Israel) will be torn from the land you are about to enter and occupy. For the Lord will scatter you among all the nations from one end of the earth to the other.”
God’s promise of restoration:
Deuteronomy 30:4-5, “Even though you are banished to the ends of the earth, the Lord your God will gather you from there and bring you back again. The Lord your God will return you to the land that belonged to your ancestors, and you will possess that land again. Then he will make you even more prosperous and numerous than your ancestors!”
God’s promise of a new heart:
Deuteronomy 30:6, “The Lord your God will change your heart and the hearts of all your descendants, so that you will love him with all your heart and soul and so you may live!”
God’s promise to punish Israel’s enemies
Deuteronomy 30:7, “The Lord your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate and persecute you.”
But, as I mentioned in Part 1, Israel is in unbelief today but in Part 3 of this series, we will look at God’s plan to bring them to faith.
