Gary Varvel: The Biblical view of Israel

GARY VARVEL

President Biden has wrapped up America’s energy independence in a web of renewable energy lies. And look at who benefits from America being tied to wind, solar and EVs.

Stephen Moore has a great column about the failure of the green transition movement.

GOD’S VIEW OF THE WAR IN ISRAEL

“And the Lord said to her: “Two nations are in your womb, two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, and the older shall serve the younger.” – Genesis 25:23

You know about the war in Israel.

But this is the rest of the story.

Genesis 25 tells us that Isaac’s wife, Rebekah, was carrying twins and they struggled together in her womb. When she asked the Lord about what was happening, God told her that 2 nations were in her womb. Then He prophesied that the nation which comes from Esau, the first-born, will serve the nation from the younger, Jacob.

1400 years later, the prophet Malachi wrote, “Jacob I have loved but Esau I have hated.” (Malachi 1:2-3). Why? Because, the nation that came from Jacob, (the Israelites) were God’s chosen people who would give the world God’s word and the Messiah. But the nation that came from Esau, the Edomites, hated Israel.

So God prophesied judgment against Edom in Obadiah 1:10, “For violence against your brother Jacob, Shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off forever.”

The most infamous Edomite was King Herod the Great. Although he as not Jewish, he was appointed king of the Jews by Caesar.

After the birth of Jesus, the Wise Men visited Herod in search of the king of the Jews. Herod decided to eliminate the threat to his throne so he sent soldiers to Bethlehem to slaughter the babies under 2-years-old. (Matthew 2:13-23).

Who are the Edomites today? According to Bible scholars, like Jimmy DeYoung and Chuck Missler, the Edomites in the Bible are the Palestinians today.

When President Trump was in office, he was the most pro-Israel president we have ever had. He moved our embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He stopped financial aid payments to the Palestinians because they were paying terrorist families.

But in April 2021, Biden restored the $200 million in U.S. aid to the Palestinians

Since the October 7th attack by Hamas terrorists, Biden has publicly supported Israel but still talks about a 2-state solution. That is not Biblical. God gave Israelis the land in an everlasting covenant in Genesis 12, 13 and 15.

I hope someone will remind Biden about God’s covenant promise to Abraham so long ago: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:3).

EPILOGUE: Not all Palestinians are lost. Those who give their lives to Jesus, are saved from God’s wrath just like anyone else.

And now you know the rest of the story.
