Jackson Exchange Club awards Jackson Man of the Year to Dr. Frank McMeen

Now there is a gay joke hidden somewhere in there.

“We are grateful to have probably about ten of the past men of the year here, including Joe Exum who is our oldest man of the year here tonight,” said Melanie Luckey, the president of the Jackson Exchange Club.

The recipient of the award is chosen from nominations by anonymous judges and given to those who go above and beyond for their community.

“They are all representatives from different civic clubs around Jackson, so they get the nominations and there’s usually letters of recommendation along with that. So, they have the very hard job of picking the man of the year,” said Luckey.

The award was given to Dr. Frank McMeen; a man heavily involved in the Jackson community. We spoke to McMeen after the award was presented to him, to hear his initial thoughts. McMeen told us he was completely caught off guard and did not expect to win. We asked him what motivated him to be involved in the community.
