Obama’s top campaign guru David Axelrod believes Biden chances in 2024 ‘no better’ than a 50-50

Former president Obama’s top campaign guru said President Biden’s chances of winning the 2024 presidential election were “no better” than 50-50 — and possibly even worse.

David Axelrod made the grim prediction to New York Times Columnist Maureen Dowd on Saturday. Biden, the nation’s oldest president, will turn 81 on Monday and would be 86 at the end of a second term.

“I think he has a 50-50 shot here, but no better than that, maybe a little worse,” Axelrod said.

Obama campaign guru David Axelrod warns President Biden could be in trouble if he runs in 2024.

“He thinks he can cheat nature here and it’s really risky. They’ve got a real problem if they’re counting on Trump to win it for them. I remember Hillary doing that, too.”

There is likely to be no love lost between the two men, as Biden is privately known to refer to Axelrod as a “prick,” Politico reported earlier this week.

The bad blood underscores broader friction that has long persisted between Team Obama and Team Biden’s political camps.

As the economy slumps and war ranges in the Middle East and Europe, Americans have grown pessimistic about a second Biden term, polls show.

Bloomberg News/Morning Consult survey released last week showed Trump leading Biden in six swing states, with or without third-party spoilers.
