Customs and Border Patrol is warning Ha

mas and Hezbollah operatives may be crossing the Southern border. Democrats say no policy change is needed.

2,000 Chinese nationals have crossed the Southern border. Democrats still say no change in policy is needed.

American troops came under attack in the Middle East and several dozen were injured last week. Iranian operatives are coordinating the attacks. We are only just finding out about the soldiers after Fox News inquiries to the Pentagon. The Biden Administration has shown so much weakness on Iran. Remember, they’ve allowed Iranian sympathizers and possible spies to stay in the administration, setting policy.

In Washington, ABC News reports Mark Meadows got immunity from Special Prosecutor Jack Smith and testified he told Trump repeated the election was not stolen. Meadows’ lawyer is disputing ABC’s report, but won’t specifically say what part they dispute.

Trump still dominates the GOP polling for the primary. His lawyer, Jenna Ellis, pled guilty yesterday and agreed to testify against him. Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell have as well. More plea deals are coming in the Georgia case.

Siena College, one of the pollsters to get both 2020 and 2022 dialed in, has Biden beating Trump despite the public despising both of them.

And Republicans seem intent on nominating Trump. His voters are convinced he can win. He actually might be able to, given the Electoral College. The same Siene College has Biden beating Trump in New York, but under fifty percent.

But the world is going to hell in a hand basket. Iran, China, and Russia are becoming more aggressive. And I’m not sure we should trade an 80 year old for a 78 year old when his brand of Republican candidate is losing suburban areas the GOP must win. Sure, they’ll win Tennessee. But Georgia is no sure thing. They need Georgia to win.

Trump is alienating to everyone except his ardent fans and his ardent fans are convinced people will hold their noses and vote for the man.

It is a risky bet as the world starts to burn and Trump is bogged down in courts and paying lawyers. It is a risky bet — all for not more than four years in office when any other Republican could potentially get eight to put out all the fires. It is a risky bet when, to get him across the finish line, the GOP will have to spend so much money that it might cost them the Senate.

Meanwhile, in Washington, the GOP has a new dead man walking — Congressman Mike Johnson of Louisiana. We’ll find out later today if he has the votes, which does not seem likely. It is notable that Matt Gaetz supported Tom Emmer, despite Emmer being more moderate than McCarthy and despite Trump’s opposition. But that didn’t work out. Johnson, at least, is a conservative and a likable guy.

Americans want grown ups and both parties are offering geriatrics and children. The nation gets what it votes for as crises grow around us. Keep up the good work, everybody. No need to be serious when we can just nurse grudges, scratch itches, and tickle our ears.
