The Tennessee Legislature has more than 200 bills filed that are being tracked by the Tennessee Firearms Association. Some, a few, are good bills. Many, including practically every bill filed by the
“Tennessee Three” as well as several other specific Democrat and even certain Republicans, are bad bills.
Here are some bills that are set to be considered in as many as 12 committees the week of March 18, 2024 that may be of interest to you or that may need for you to contact your legislators and the committee members. TFA’s comments and position on the bills are included in the reports.

Rep. Farmer announces that the House Civil Justice Subcommittee will have a “gun bill” calendar on April 2, 2024.
On March 11, 2024, Rep. Andrew Farmer announced that the House Civil Justice Subcommittee will have its gun bill calendar on April 2, 2024. That announcement had the effect of delaying the hearing on any pro-2nd Amendment bills that were already scheduled by their House sponsors to be heard prior to that date.
This is concerning news which indicates a lack of urgency at least by some in the Tennessee Legislature to take action to advance and restore the rights that are constitutionally protected. So, the question remains – why did Rep. Andrew Farmer (or those in Legislative leadership who may have instructed or concurred in the announcement) take action to further delay letting these bills move forward? Indeed, why have the specific bills that would remove unconstitutional infringement in Tennessee not already been heard and enacted by the Tennessee Legislature now almost 2 years after Bruen, 14 years after McDonald and 16 years after Heller?
Please contact these House Republican Leaders and request that the pro-2nd Amendment, Bruen based bills be advanced immediately and not pushed to the back of the line as if they are, at most, 2nd-class rights.

Ask them specifically why they and the Tennessee Legislature continue to treat the Second Amendment as a “second class” right.
