The Biden Doctrine: Speak Loudly and Carry a Limp Stick

By ERICK-WOODS ERICKSON

I am back from a wonderfully relaxing time with my family in Hilton Head. As I did not win the Powerball and thus cannot afford a beach house in Sea Pines, I’m back at work and on the radio today. Remember, the apocalypse eclipse is at 3pm ET today.

I want to begin this week with the Israeli situation as word comes the IDF has pulled back from its “active invasion” phase. Israel is one of a growing number of countries to have made the mistake of trusting Joe Biden.

Israel moved slowly in its quest to exterminate Hamas at Joe Biden’s request. In its invasion of Gaza, instead of the “genocide” claimed by the left, Israel actively worked to minimize Palestinian casualties. The ratio of dead civilians to the military in urban conflict is normally higher.

To the extent the civilian deaths in Gaza were as high as they were, it was because of Hamas using civilians as human shields. But the West never wanted to give Israel credit or blame Hamas.

As Israel proceeding further into Gaza, accidents were bound to happen, including the unfortunate deaths of the charitable workers last week. But they had chosen to put themselves in harms way in a war zone. Accidents do happen. Israel, unlike Hamas, shouldered the blame and meted out punishment to those involved — unlike Hamas.

Still, the world and Joe Biden condemned Israel and ramped up further pressure on Israel to stop its invasion.

Had Israel stormed in ruthlessly and rapidly and destroyed Hamas wherever it existed, damn the consequences, the war would most likely have ended sooner, with more dead civilians, but with less backlash against Israel. Had they ended it before the Michigan Democratic Primary, Israel would have accomplished its goals without Joe Biden betraying the nation.

But Biden, a man we are told is the “adult in the room,” decided he needed to reverse course on Israel because of his own domestic political problems. Israel slowing down its campaign to humor Biden was a fatal mistake that will leave it vulnerable and will leave Hamas in place and Iran both emboldened and enriched by Joe Biden’s policies.

Ukraine is similarly situated. Biden promised the nation a lot and delivered a little — slow walking everything. Its military campaign to push the Russians out of its territory was premised on American arms and money, all of which Biden promised. He then was slow to deliver tanks, planes, missiles, and more — none of which had to do with congressional appropriations.

Taiwan should take notice of Ukraine and Israel’s fates. The Biden Administration talks a good game and never lives up to the expectations it sets for itself. Meanwhile, Hamas is still tied to Qatar, which still gives safe haven to the regime, which still claims to be an American ally, which still gets Biden Administration praise.

In Niger, Islamic radicals are on the rise and Americans have been booted after Biden Administration officials belittled and lectured the new military junta to its face — insulting them. Russian mercenaries have propped up the new regime in Niger, while forcing out Americans and now not providing enough man power to stamp out the rising Islamic terrorist threat emboldened to spread further.

The world is careening towards a third World War and the American press corps — which supposedly holds the powerful accountable — is more interested in stopping Donald Trump than holding Biden accountable. But the problem is, actually, the press is on his team and the progressives like the policies.

American foreign policy cannot function when its leadership and the press designed to hold it accountable sees the United States as an oppressive, colonizing power and its enemies as oppressed, colonized victims. Since October 7, 2023, and Hamas’s invasion of Israel, U.S. foreign policy workers in the White House and State Department as well as a flood of journalists, have all made clear they are on the side of the terrorists.

Lectures about Donald Trump’s threats to democracy will not go very far when the Democratic diplomatic corps and the press corps show more sympathies to those who would kill Americans than to America and its allies.

Israel will not accomplish its goal of rooting out Hamas because it tried to accommodate Joe Biden and is now betrayed. Ukraine cannot oust Russia not because of the U.S. House slow-walking funding, but because Biden has slow walked everything he has promised. Taiwan will be invaded. Islamic terror will spread in Africa. Iran will keep funding terrorism. American enemies will keep crossing our border waiting for the signal to unleash hell domestically in the United States, killing Americans across this nation.

All of this is thanks to Joe Biden and the progressives who advise him.

The world needs American leadership. Instead, Joe Biden speaks loudly and carries a limp stick.
