An 18-year-old man wanted for a deadly shooting and robbery that took place in an apartment complex in the Raleigh area of Memphis last month was captured on Tuesday by U.S. Marshals and Memphis Police Department (MPD) officers.
The suspect, Demario Wilson, was taken into custody at a residence in the 2200 block of Eldridge Avenue in Memphis, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Wilson (pictured above) attempted to evade arrest by fleeing out of a back window of the residence but retreated into the house when spotted by officers with the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force and MPD’s Fugitive Apprehension Team.
The suspect eventually complied with law enforcement, climbing out from the back window and surrendering without incident.
Wilson was wanted for a shooting that took place last month at the apartment complex located on Summit Arbors Circle and Hidden Woods Cove.
On April 18, law enforcement responded to a call at the apartment complex, where it found a 20-year-old man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, a witness at the scene stated it was a robbery over a gaming system. Wilson allegedly fled the scene in a black Dodge Charger.
On April 19, MPD obtained a warrant out of Shelby County General Sessions Court charging Wilson with First Degree Murder and Aggravated Robbery.
MPD said it was “proud to partner with the [U.S. Marshals] to take violent fugitives off the streets of Memphis.”
Wilson, who is due in court on Thursday at 9:00 a.m., allegedly committed last month’s crimes while he was out on bond for charges connected to stealing several vehicles in East Memphis last November.
